HP Photo Printer

I am a bit biased when it comes to HP Photo Printers, actually all HP Printers. My first printer, way back in the dark ages before digital cameras, was an HP. It served me admirably well for many many years,  just like my current HP. Also, I worked for HP for a couple years about 20 years ago. Still rest assured, I will only recommend models based on their merits!

HP makes well over 30 photo printer models. They all seem decent, yet some are much better deals than others. Not all of them are great values, and sometimes competing brands may have strong showings, especially in the smaller and portable photo printer space.

In general my favorite HP printers are the higher end machines. I think HP excels in this area although they make some good less expensive consumer grade machines as well.

HP A636 Compact Photo Printer is around $150 with discount. This is a great little compact printer designed to print a few pictures, not the entire family photo album. It uses USB connectivity (cord not included), there is an optional battery, and the picture quality is wonderful. However ink is quite expensive and you need to buy some pronto - the included ink cartridge has almost none in it, just a few pictures worth.

And for a home to medium office solution, the HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-In-One Printer is a workhorse all-in-one device that prints, scans, faxes, and probably makes coffee too :) It does everything well.

It has very very fast printing, multiple networking options including WiFi and functioning as a network printer, and a touch screen. It has a high duty cycle, designed for printing up to 15,000 pages a month.

You wouldn't buy this just for printing photos, but it does a great job on photos and everything else. It lists in the $400 range, but Click Here for a big discount (over 50% as of this writing).

HP Officejet Pro 8500 isn't perfect, nothing is. It's loud and early models had some quality control issues.

The HP CP2025N Color LaserJet Printer is a high end laser color printer which excels in printing color/photographs very quickly although black and white speed is not fantastic. It cannot print directly from a camera and doesn't have wireless, but it's designed for an office environment and is a recommended workhorse of a model.

It's in the $500 range and if you need to print lots of color, for example print professional color marketing materials right in your office, this may be the printer for you!

So there you have it, three recommended HP printers which do photos well, although the last two are not "HP Photo Printers" but rather small to medium office models that do photos well.
